Celebrity Hair Styles - Colors

Styles like this are usually love them or hate them but if you want to add a touch of bright color to your hair and are brave enough, why not?

When Rachel McAdams added pink to her blonde hair, opinions were split but Rachel said she added them simply because she wanted to, and that's all that matters.

Apricot Hair

Seen on - Sienna Miller and Christina Aguilera

Going for a full head of apricot hue would probably be a bit much but both Christina and Sienna made the wise decision to go for just some touches.

This look compliments golden and light blonde shades well, adding a bit of warmth but would have a really bold effect teamed with darker colours.

Get the look with some Clip-in Straight Hair Extensions.

Blue Hair

Seen - After rocking blue wigs on occasion, Katy Perry finally took the plunge and went for the full blue effect in early 2012.

For Katy's fab blue hue you can try out a hair dye such as Splat Rebellious Colors Kit or Manic Panic's Shocking Blue Hair Dye.

Going all-out blue can be a little much, unless you want to wig-out like Katy Perry; but dip-dye looks like Kate Bosworth's can be great.

Blue dyes to try out for similar looks are - Special Effects FX Hair Dye in Fish Bowl Blue.

You can also rock a look like Sara Paxton in Aquamarine with some Clip-in Blue Hair Extensions.

The look can also be achieved via hair mascara, a la Julia Stegner (right).

Grey-Lilac Hair

Seen At - The January 2012 Golden Globe Awards

Color - Lilac-Grey over blonde

When Kelly Osbourne first Tweeted a pic of her latest hair shade she said: "not the best pic i know but in the light my hair is about 100 different tones of grey/blue/violet I’m obsessed with it!"

Out at the Golden Globes it most definitely looked a lilac shade - and a very pretty one at that. Just love how the lilac is streaking through her blonde at the back.

If you're daring enough to try out such a shade for yourself, obviously you'll have to start out with a blonde base.  For the lilac, try out some Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Hair Dye in Mystic Heather - this can be watered down for a lighter shade to suit your taste.

Lilac/Lavender Hair

Seen on - Katy Perry

For Katy's sweet lilac/pink colour try out Manic Panic's gorgeous Sweet Heather color hair dye.

To achieve her style, begin by applying some setting lotion to damp hair - this will help the style hold.

Create a slightly off-centre parting and blow-dry smooth using a round brush.

Using a large-barrel curling iron, take large sections of hair at a time and wrap them under and away from the face.  You can also achieve the look with large rollers if you prefer.

Brush the style to finish and secure with a mist of hairspray.

Multi Colours

Seen At - The 2010 MTV VMAs

Katy brightened up her usual dark curls with pink, blue and purply temporary highlights.

Get the look with the clip-in streak highlights from superstrands.com - they cost £24.99 for 6, and come in a choice of colors; or Hairdo's Color POP Human Hair Strips which come in five different shades.

Orange Hair

It's not a common color for people to go, but you can't deny, Hayley Williams' locks bring a true touch of sunshine to brighten any place.

If you'd love to try Hayley's color, the vivid orange look is hard to achieve unless applied to bleached blonde hair.  To be done properly take a pic to your local colorist who should be able to mix up and apply an exact shade for you.

If your budget is a little less you can still try out the look at home with Agent Orange/Napalm Orange Hair Dye.

Pink Hair

Seen on - Dianna Agron, Rachel McAdams, Nicki Minaj, and Pink, of course.

Some pink dyes to try out for vivid color -

Manic Panic's Cotton Candy Pink Hair Dye, should give you this gorgeous look.  You can pick how intense you want the color by watering down the dye to suit yourself.

Purple Hair

The Colour - Purple

Seen On - Katy Perry

After being blue, Katy made the switch to dark purple.

For a similar purple shade try out Manic Panic's Puple Haze Hair Dye .

Red Hair

The Color - Rihanna Red

Just before Rihanna first began sporting the red look she had worked up to a half black and half blonde style that the red could be applied to for max color and impact.

Red dyes to try out for Rihanna's color are -

L'Oreal Feria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Colour, in P76 Pure Spice Power or P67 Scarlet Power.

Or for a less permanent color try L'Oreal's Casting Creme, in 565 Cherry Red (Cheryl Cole used this color but had a less vivid effect due to her brown hair base).
