Nicole
wore a number of amazing and intricate pieces during the film but none could top
the necklace that was given to her by The Duke (played by Richard Roxburgh). It
was a diamonds and platinum piece made up of over 1,308 diamonds totalling 134
carats, and the most expensive piece of jewelry ever specifically made for a
film.
The item made by Australian designer Stefano Canturi
necklace is worth around $1 million. It was named the "Satine Necklace" and was
later sold at auction by Christie's. |

Another piece of jewelry trivia - The song "Diamonds
Are a Girl's Best Friend" mentions four jewellers - Tiffany, Cartier, Black
Starr & Frost - Gorham and Harry Winston. Winston was not in business when the
movie was set, and Black Starr & Frost had not yet merged with Gorham.
Both names were removed from Satine's performance of the song. Harry Winston was
replaced with Jim Broadbent's character Harold (Harry) Zidler. This historical
person's real name was Charles Zidler, which the writers changed to fit with
this song. |
